For an unusual hike, head to Lake Monteynard near the campsite in Isère. For walkers looking for new experiences, the tour of Lake Monteynard is THE hike not to be missed.

On the programme: a riverside stroll, exploring forest paths and trails, and… aerial crossings! Fun and excitement are guaranteed, delighting young and old alike. So, are you ready for adventure?

Hiking around Lake Monteynard: a different experience. For most of us, hiking means setting off on the trails and walking, walking, walking! However, there are other types of walks that combine various activities.

This is precisely what the Monteynard Lake footbridge hike offers. A loop of about 13 kilometres that can be completed in 5 hours, combining boat trips, walking and spectacular crossings via gigantic Himalayan footbridges suspended between 45 and 80 metres above the ground.

An unusual, well-marked route that’s full of excitement!

The adventure begins gently with a fifteen-minute boat trip across the Drac. The setting is wild, with the turquoise water of the lake and the bright green of the forest competing in beauty. Once on the other side, the walking route begins along a road that runs alongside the lake, then heads into the woods. The trail is easy to walk and offers many breathtaking views. Around a bend, the spectacular Drac footbridge appears, 220 metres long and suspended at a dizzying height.

The journey then takes a new turn, as it is necessary to cross this metal bridge to continue on your way. And that’s just the beginning!

A second structure, the Ebron footbridge (180 metres long), awaits hikers a few kilometres further on.

But rest assured, after these two sensational crossings, the traditional hike resumes along a beautiful forest route, ideal for recovering from all the excitement!
